"The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Many people have lost hope in the grueling search for jobs. However, there may be some methods to get ahead of the routine difficulties many people face. Click 'Read More' to find out some are overcoming the hurdles.

Many people struggle to get hired, even after an outstanding interview. This may happen due to age, availability, or lack of willingness to hire. Reddi Johnson (16), a student at Washington High School, states “I would be looking for a job [and the interviewers would say] “Your interview was great, but we’re not going to hire you right now. You’re too young, come back.” If you do manage to find a job, it may be difficult to keep it because retention rates are low, especially in starter-level jobs.

Regardless of your age or job title, your pay should match the pressures of your job. Reddi states “When I started it was $10 an hour, but now it’s $12. I’m actually so mad…I work with too many kids.” To many, their pay doesn’t match the demand, regardless of what it may be. Assuming you can acquire and retain a job, being treated well or feeling adequately compensated is a struggle.

Many jobs are looking for memorable and impactful candidates. If you stand out, you may be more likely to be hired. Reddi states “I feel like I’m the kind that if you meet me once, you’re going to remember me. I’m not going to go for something that doesn’t suit my style.” Not only should you be memorable, you should find jobs that align with your needs, desires, and values. When a job determines that you are a good fit and an outstanding candidate, your chances of being hired increase.

Analyzing the job process and determining reasons jobs won’t hire or retain employees seems complex, but it is simple. People’s needs aren’t being met, leading to people quitting, lacking effort, demanding a change in lifestyle, etc. Employers and Companies haven’t fully picked up on this trend, leading to people still being unfulfilled. Finding what employers desire may aid in some of the difficulties of getting hired.
